Re: Bali
Would personally love to go to the Andaman islands and places like PNG.

Absolutely not the sort of places you'd consider for a family holiday though.

Re: Bali
I've not been to andaman , I only heard about it when I was reading a lonely planet guide in Goa . Time and money (mostly money) ment I couldn't go there but it was no more expensive to fly there from Delhi as it was to fly to Goa

Keep promising myself one day I will go but can't really ever see it happening.

Bali is hardly an untouched shangri-la. It's probably one of the top tourist destinations on the planet. Probably perfect for a family getaway or a honeymoon.

Go to Tenerife if you want to do that then.

This isn't The Beach but if you are going to go somewhere REALLY different to your normal everyday existence why do something you can do in fucking Southend?

Re: Bali
Is this one of these threads where we all try and one-up each other on how non-typical a tourist we are?

Some people just like lazing about in the sun with a beer and sight seeing. I'm sure they extend their deepest apologies to all you free spirits who ain't happy unless you're doing something that absolutely no one else has ever done before.

Popular resort for Indians. Used to be the site of a big prison in British times.

"Done a few trips to the temples, volcano, but mainly chilled out"

Typical English abroad.

Lazing around in Nickleson shorts getting sunburnt like a fat slob.

Disappointing.

Re: Bali
Read a lot about that North Sentinal Island which is around there.

Well I say "a lot"; there's almost fuck all information on it anywhere.

One of, if not the, last "undiscovered" places on the planet.

What we know so far is that there's a tribe of people living there (no one knows how many or anything about them)

Since the 1970s pretty much any ship that's got too close to the island has got recked on the coral and everyone on board being killed by the inhabitants.

There's one bit of footage of them online

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaPYwlXOTzQ

Since then any attempted contact from anyone has been met with violence.

After the Tsunami a helicopter went to drop food packages over the island and got arrows shot at it.

Experts reckon whoever lives there has been completely isolated for up to 80,000 years.

Wow.

If you want to go somewhere different that no one you know has been to then go here

Beautiful and unspoilt although the nicobar part is still off limits .
